Printing Process

The specific ink for each color of a printed image is transferred from a batch supply to an applicator roller (frequently referred to as “anilox” roller), thereby preferably applied through a chamber where excess amounts of ink are doctored-off from the continuously wet-end anilox roller.

The anilox roller then transfers the ink directly onto the raised areas of the polymeric printing plate.

The printing plate then transfers the ink on the substrate which is pressed against the plate by means of an impression roller.

As this procedure is continuous throughout the printing run substrate is fed off a stack or reel and delivered onto a stack or a reel at the delivery end of the respective press.

The unique CONPRINTA print unit design introduces a permanent carrier for these flexo plates which allows to sharply reduce press setup times and efforts. Such carrier is referred to as the “Belt”. Belt Printing is predominantly used to apply graphics on corrugated linerboard. The corrugated packaging industry frequently requires an enormous variability of print format sizes and print run lengths. After the linerboard has been web- printed it is usually converted to be corrugated containers. Consequently, the “before” print is also known as “Preprint”.
