The supply chain of consumer goods from raw materials processing, manufacturing towards retail requires transport protection at every stage. The corrugated industry has answered this demand through providing fluted, fibre-based linerboard for packaging that fulfils various strengths specifications as measured in metrics like ECT, BCT and SCT. The trend to save the underlying fibre content for a needed box strength has led the industry to phase-out box designs or production steps that would result in partially crushed flutes. As PrePrint isn't imposing crushing forces onto fluted boards it is a preferable method in achieving enhanced box strengths with less fibre usage. This sustainability aspect of raw materials conservation is an added value of employing the modern "PPVoD" process.
